How do you pick the right size golf glove?
A proper fitting golf glove should fit like a second skin, tight across the palm and fingers, with no loose material. You should not have extra material at the top of your fingers, if you do, you may want to size down or try a Cadet glove in your size.
How do you determine your glove size?
To ascertain your glove size:
- Pass a tape measure around the widest part of your hand – usually over your knuckles, excluding the thumb.
- The result, in inches, is your glove size – e.g. if your hand measures 7 inches, you are a glove size 7.
- If you are between two sizes, round down to the lower of the two.
Should a golf glove be tight or loose?

Which golf glove do I need?
Right hand or left? However, you may be wondering why golfers only wear a glove on one hand. This is because a golf glove is usually worn on the weaker, or ‘lead’ hand, which the hand on the top of the grip. What is cadet golf glove size?

What is the difference between a cadet golf glove and a regular golf glove?
Cadet size gloves have slightly shorter finger lengths and a wider palm and back of the hand relative to “regular” size gloves.
Can a golf glove be too big?
Upwards of 50% of golfers are estimated to be wearing the wrong glove size. Most are wearing a glove that is too big. Your glove is the closest point of contact with your club; it should fit like a second skin. Any movement between hand and glove could compromise your swing.
Is golf glove too small?
A golf glove should fit pretty snugly on your hand, but it shouldn’t be so tight that you can ‘t move your fingers. If a golf glove is too loose, it won’t help you grip the club as well as it should. However, if it’s too tight, you can actually do more damage to your hand than good.
Do golf gloves stretch over time?
If they are cared for properly, they will remain soft and last much longer. After a day of golfing in the rain, the glove may be stretch back into shape and air dried naturally. It is important to opt for a glove that is somewhat snug. Leather gloves stretch slightly over time.
